30th Annual Magic Dragon Street Meet Nationals “Crushes It” at the Lake of the Ozarks
Lake Ozark, MO – It was the perfect weekend for the Magic Dragon Street Meet Nationals held on May 4-6 on the Historic Bagnell Dam Strip. The beautiful weather brought almost perfect attendance as the show nearly reached its cap of 1,000 entries. By hosting 954 show vehicles along with thousands of spectators, there was quite the crowd during all hours of the show. Throughout the three day event, participants and spectators continued to enjoy all that Bagnell Dam Strip has to offer way past the show’s hours. The strip was packed from the early hours of the morning, into the later hours of the night. “We couldn’t have asked for better weather or a better crowd to help us bring in our 30th year!” stated event Chairman Bert Westbrook.
The strip was filled with different makes and models of street rods, muscle cars, street machines and motorcycles from various years. It was quite a spectacular sight! With music from the official event radio station, Cool 102.7 playing throughout the entire weekend, and all the magnificent vehicles, the atmosphere at this year’s show was full of energy and excitement.
The Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, along with the Magic Dragon Street Meet Nationals Committee, would like to extend a heartfelt special thanks to Precision Auto & Tire Services for their outstanding contributions to the Magic Dragon Street Meet Nationals. With their support and passion for the event we were able to welcome a new attraction to this year’s show, Firestone Ally, which included the renowned Big Foot Monster Truck. “It was such an amazing opportunity to add Firestone Ally to the show this year” stated Lake Area Chamber Executive Director K.C. Cloke. “We heard lots of praise for adding not only the exciting Big Foot Car Smashing event on Saturday but to have a variety of other family friendly attractions including face painting, bounce houses, and an RC Track just to name a few.”
The Magic Dragon Street Meet Nationals finished the show on Sunday with its annual judging and awards. Taking home the “Best of Show” was Todd Widhalm of Sioux City, IA with his 1962 Chevrolet Impala. 43 other 1st and 2nd place awards were given for individual vehicle classes. The 2018 winners are listed on the website MagicDragonCarShow.com.
An event of this magnitude takes a lot of planning and hard work, there are many entities and individuals to thank for their time and support including the 75+ volunteers, the City of Lake Ozark, Lake Ozark Fire Protection District, the Lake Ozark Police Department, as well as Presenting Sponsor, Summer USA. Lastly, but certainly not least, we would like to thank all the participants, new and old, who spend the weekend with us showcasing their beautiful show vehicles ensuring the quality of our show year after year.
